The link leads to some examples that Kirstie Battson produced after leaving university for her self promotion. Kirsty produced a mid-sized high quality booklet, with an attachment business card.

While I can see the positive effects that posting high quality booklets can do for somebody self promotion, I feel like the booklet is too much on the larger scale to use as she does with the booklet having 6 double page spreads each with a number of work on along with the book cover.

If i were to receive a product similar to that, I wouldn’t instantly know what her work was about, as there is a fair spectrum of work within the book. If I were in her position, I would reduce the pages in the book while also reducing the re-production costs to create a more personal approach.

(research) Serena malyon Self Promotion

The link takes you to some examples of Serena’s self promotion images that in my opinion all have very varied styles from one another.

Whether this work is intended to send out together, and this is just her way of promoting all sides of her work, I’m not sure- but I feel as though there could be ways in which promoting all aspects of the ways in which you like to work could easily be confined to one whole piece of work, rather than stretched over a number of separate items.

You can find her blog here!

When I started working on the painting to the right today, I realised that this new piece of work was very similar in style so a piece of work that I had produced around April 2012.
When I originally painted the piece on the left, it was (in my opinion) the best piece of work I had ever done. It marked where I was with my skills at that time.
So when I put the two paintings together and noticed how much I have improved in just over a year- I’ve never been so shocked.
